Canada extends ban on cruise ships until October

The 2020 Canadian cruise season has effectively ended following an announcement from their Minister of Transport banning all cruise ships over 100 persons and that offer overnight accommodation from operating until October 31, 2020.
Minister of Transport, Marc Garneau acknowledged the continuing challenging times and extended the ban on large cruise ships in a bid to ensure Canada’s transportation system remains safe and secure during this time.

Many major cruise lines had delayed their season due to the pandemic, however with the new measures, it’s unlikely we’ll see a Canada and Alaska cruise season this year.
A statement from Holland America Line, one of the biggest operators in the region, has said they will pause global cruise operations and cancel all Alaska, Europe and Canada/New England cruises for 2020.
